Workspace · Document ranges, evidence and record indexes

Organize the documents. Preserve the original.

Hourglass combines Splice page-range partitioning, Lens source locations and Almanac document review. Document boundaries and saved fields remain tied to the source version.

Who uses Hourglass

Step by step

How Hourglass works

The receipt beside each step is an illustrative example of what a reviewer sees, not data from a real case.

  1. 01

    Partition the record with Splice

Choose a record and define titled physical-page ranges. The partition must cover the record without gaps or overlaps; the stored source PDF is not rewritten.

record · titled ranges · physical pages
  2. 02

    Save the document map

Save a versioned document map and navigate its ranges. Concurrent or changed-source edits are rejected rather than silently replacing a different source version.

source version · document version · edit fence
  3. 03

    Review Almanac findings

Run Almanac over eligible source units to review document metadata, summaries and case fields with validated quotes and a coverage receipt. Missing sections keep the run incomplete.

    document · fields · anchors · coverage
  4. 04

    Inspect Lens source locations

Open quoted evidence on its physical page. Exact stored geometry supports highlighting where the source frame and quote match; otherwise the viewer reports that the quote was not located.

source frame · quote boxes · location status
  5. 05

    Export the Record Index

Export the saved document index with page ranges and fields. Complete analysis reports also support evidence-aware exports; recent authentication and audit rules apply.

document index · page ranges · audit
Limits we state plainly
  • Page-range organization does not alter or replace the original file. Saved ranges reflect the reviewer's choices, not a guarantee of automatic boundary detection.
  • AI fields and summaries require source review; unavailable or withheld material is not presented as analyzed.
  • Lens does not guess a highlight when exact quote or source-frame matching fails.
