The assumptions behind the math

We show our work. These are the only fixed inputs; everything else comes from your sliders. Swap in your own numbers if your firm works differently.

The manual formula

Manual hours = pages ÷ review speed (default 50 pages/hour). Manual cost = those hours × your hourly rate. With the defaults — 750 pages at 50 pg/hr — that is 15 hours per case.

Two ways to value time

The toggle switches your hourly rate between an internal fully-loaded cost ($45/hr) and the rate a firm bills clients ($100/hr). Internal cost answers "what does this cost us"; billed rate answers "what revenue is this work tying up".

The Chronos side is a placeholder

Chronos cost = (pages × cost-per-page) + (QA hours × hourly rate). The cost-per-page ($0.5), turnaround (1 hr) and QA time (1 hr) shown by default are illustrative placeholders, not measured product figures. Replace them with your own pack rate and review time.

Honest, even when negative

If your inputs make Chronos cost more or take longer, the cards show a negative saving — we do not floor the result at zero. The point is to model your own break-even, not to manufacture a saving.
